Do You Take Tiger Woods On Your Fantasy Golf Team?
Tiger Woods will defend at the Memorial next week. Of course, the big question will be: Can he win?
He'll get you points in fantasy golf 99 percent of the time. But can he give you those leader points?
And what about that coveted winner bonus?
I would take Tiger Woods as my A-player any time he tees it up. With the next event at Jack Nicklaus' place, solid play from Tiger is even more of an afterthought.
After all, Jack is the one player that truly motivates Tiger.
The only way Woods can show people he's the best of all time is to eclipse Nicklaus' records.
On a humanitarian or charity level, however, I'd guess they are about even. On a personal conduct note, well, Jack may have the edge—based on Butler Cabin standards, conservative as that may be.
At the Memorial, played on the Muirfield Village Golf Course in Dublin, Woods will unquestionably be my A-player, with Ernie Els as my probably unnecessary back-up option.
My B-players will be Lee Westwood and K.J. Choi. Both seem to play well when Tiger's present. Must be the aftershave. Or the crisp-collared shirts.
My back-ups to Westwood and Choi, in case of missed cuts or too many three-putts, will be Hunter Mahan, who I think will win a tournament one day (though not this week), and Adam Scott.
My C-player is Matt Kuchar. Ben Crane will back him up.
Just to let you guys know, I'm heating up a bit in Yahoo Fantasy Golf, with 2876 points. That puts me in the 80th percentile, ahead of three of the four Yahoo Golf "experts" for the season.
This team should be fairly strong. At the Colonial, the squad of Stricker, Choi, Jacobson, and Crane should also be productive.
Good luck to your favorite players, and please, rake all the traps nicely.
Take your time.
