Brett Favre Saga Heats Up As June Approaches
Quite frankly, it is hard to remember what the offseason in the NFL is like when there is no talk about Brett Favre possibly retiring. I remember that tearful goodbye on Lambeau Field on Sunday night football against the Bears in 2006.
Next thing you know he has one of his best seasons with the Packers in 2007 and they lose in overtime of the NFC Championship Game with Brett's last throw being intercepted.
Then comes the whole Broadway Brett scenario in 2008 where he leads the Jets to an 8-3 record, but falters down the stretch and eventually doesn't even make the playoffs.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
There was then the ultimate turn in the Favre Saga once the Jets released him after drafting Mark Sanchez, Favre was a free agent. At the time he was retired, but as well all know Brett that gave him the opportunity to sign with the Vikings and ultimately he did.
Last offseason, he had his torn bicep repaired and statistically at the age of 40 had one of his best seasons ever. Yes it ended in the NFC Championship Game in a loss to the eventual Super Bowl Champions in the New Orleans Saints.
Favre threw a terrible interception across his body with time winding down in the fourth quarter. The Vikings were in range for about a 50-yard field goal to advance to the Super Bowl.
Now the question remain will Brett Favre commit to another season with the Minnesota Vikings? I think he has to at this point. He did confirm over the weekend that he had the ankle procedure done to remove bone spurs and some lose cartilage that was causing him pain at times.
It would be awfully hard to put up the same numbers as he did this past season, but Favre realizes the potential this Vikings team has and if thinks he can still play then he is going to come back.
Favre will be the starting quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings this season. In my minds it is a forgone conclusion. Favre beat the Packers twice last season, and proved to owner Ted Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy that he still had what it takes to be a successful NFL quarterback.
With Favre there is this type of Diva mentality. He loves the attention and is going to ride this out throughout the summer months. He will most likely arrive late to training camp and then start putting in the work with his teammates.
Favre has warranted that treatment and the owner and coach Brad Childress are totally fine with it. My problem is if your going to play another season you should show your teammates that your all in and get moving in the offseason.
Brett joked last week that if Southern Mississippi can get back to the College World Series then he will be back for another year in Minnesota. Southern Miss has some work to do considering they are 30-20 heading into the conference tournament.
Low and behold, the offseason wouldn't be the same without the questions surrounding Brett Favre and his infamous return.
It's just another case of Brett being Brett.
