Mike Vick or Vince Young: Who's The Better Dual-Threat QB?
Michael Vick. Vince Young. Two of the most troublesome quarterbacks in football. Yet, two quarterbacks loved by many NFL fanatics across the nation.
We all know Vick's troubles. We don't need to address his past mistakes.
But, some may not know about Young, the 27-year-old quarterback for the Tennessee Titans, and the demons he's faced.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Young had a troubled life growing up. He faced many hard times, including a life-threatening bicycle accident. Some of his family members never witnessed Young's journey into college. Vince was pretty much alone with his mother.
Young had an amazingly successful college career. Texas' Defensive Tackle Rodrique Wright was quoted as saying, "You can't turn on television in Houston without seeing Vince Young. You might see him more than the Texans. He was like LeBron James in Houston when he was coming out of high school."
On April 29, 2006, the Titans selected Young with the 3rd overall pick. The hype was incredible, even similar to Vick coming out of Virginia Tech.
To sum it all up, Young had two consecutive seasons with more picks than touchdowns, and a bad passer rating. Then, in 2008, Kerry Collins beat out Vince for the starting spot.
In September of that year, Young left his house without a cell phone, or any other form of communication. This was announced after Titans' fans booed his poor play. Many said he was very depressed, and upset, over his level of play.
Things immediately turned in a positive direction for the distraught quarterback. Soon after starting the season 0-6, Collins was replaced by Young.
Young led the Titans to an 8-2 record in his next 10 starts. Tennessee finished the season with an 8-8 record.
Young posted 10 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 1,879 yards passing, an 82.8 passer rating, and 281 yards rushing on 55 attempts.
He was elected to the Pro Bowl as a reserve and, in my opinion, deserved the Comeback Player of the Year award. He overcame a heap of adversity and stress.
Now, with VY's interesting story, let's get to work.
Mike Vick has overcome many hardships, as well. By no means am I trying to pick favorites in this read.
Vick has an important story, but everyone knows his struggles. For months, that's all you heard about.
Keep in mind, if Donovan McNabb wasn't thrown out of Philly, I'd have never written this article. I won't wander into that hostile zone. Just remember, Donovan's departure gives Michael a whole new dimension with the Eagles.
Kevin Kolb is Philadelphia's projected starter in 2010. But, some people, including me, envision Kolb cracking under the pressure.
In that case, Vick will be striking fear into defensive coordinator's eyes, once again.
Mike Vick isn't getting younger, though. This may cause his agility to decrease in a hurry. But, he was out for a few seasons serving his time. He should be fresher than others think.
There's no doubt #7 still has his arm strength, throwing very tight spirals in preseason, and even during his limited regular season action.
His rushing ability has definitely decreased. Vick has averaged 7.2 yards-per-carry in his career. But, this season the average fell to just 4.0. Four yards-per-carry is fine for a quarterback.
In fact, that's better than some running backs. But, you can't compare a tailback's rushes to Vick's.
Vince Young is more of a, I wouldn't say power runner. But, he is bigger, and has more heart.
Therefore, he runs more straight forward while Vick is always trying to shake a defender. Both quarterbacks are special runners, and they will stay that way.
I have to go with VY as the better pure passer. Vick just doesn't have very good accuracy. Vince, on the other hand, looked sharp throwing the ball last season.
When it comes to leadership and personality, I'd also have to go with Young. They both went through horrible times, but Young has just won me over. Vick still seems like he doesn't care.
I understand his passion to start, but Vince wants it more.
To wrap it all up, Young is the better dual-threat quarterback. But, I believe Vick will be more successful IF, and that's a big if, he gets his head screwed on right. Vick can also thrive if he becomes a leader, and his receivers and o-line stay healthy.
