HP Byron Nelson Invitational: Good Weather Lowers Round Two Scores

Steve Elkington is currently in first place on Friday at the HP Byron Nelson Invitational after 11 holes at minus eight for the tournament.

The weather that delayed the first round was finished with eight players sharing the lead at minus four.

Elkington opened with three birdies in four holes to grab the lead at minus seven and then added another birdie to reach minus eight.

My C-player back-up, Joe Durant, is activated for rounds three and four now because of a very nice run to reach minus six for this event—so far.

Heath Slocum, who I picked to win this week, is not playing exceptionally well and is currently just above the cut line at plus one.

Dustin Johnson and Y.E. Yang have been activated for the third and fourth rounds on my fantasy team this week as they are currently minus three and even, respectively.

It looks like maybe Kenny Perry will be my A player to finish out this event in fantasy this week. My starters actually gained a few spots, but the backups have stepped up.

Perry has not started round two yet, but is at even par and ahead of Slocum. We shall wait and see who finishes best, but it looks like Kenny Perry can move up a bit with a good round today (Friday May 21) at Byron Nelson.

Jay Williamson, who played the Nationwide Tour previously and in previous PGA Tour events, has placed as high as second, is currently minus six. What a shot in the arm he could use with a first victory here.

Williamson's best career season so far has earned him a little less than a million in 2007, and this season he has made only $47,000—making only four cuts out of 11 events.

It looks like a shootout on Sunday if this field stays bunched up like it is now, with plenty of good players waiting for a nice hot Sunday round to post a score. The projected cut line is plus two.
