Have The Habs Luck Run Out?
It seems as though the Canadiens have run out of the bottled luck they were drinking during the first two rounds against the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Flyers jumped to a four-point lead during the first two periods before grabbing two more points in a shut out game.
In a very physical game, both teams saw the penalty box and even some fights. The atmosphere in the Wachovia Center was super charged as the Canadiens showed more emotion than they did all last series.
Perhaps it was a bit of frustration over their lack of scoring or the fact that they now believe they can make it all the way to the Stanley Cup Final. But the attitude really didn’t look flattering with the red, white, and blue colors.

The Canadiens seemed to fall apart from the first drop of the puck and had two extremely weak periods with silly penalties that could have been prevented. With an air of desperation when they hit the ice in the third and a new goalie in the net, the Canadiens showed a small shadow of their talent from the first two rounds.
It was extinguished when the last goal of the night hit the Hab’s net. The Canadiens looked as though they just gave up.
The team never came on strong during the game but they organized themselves a bit more and made some better plays in the third. It did seem that P.K. Subban’s rookie nerves finally caught up with him and he was never a big threat, unlike his games against the Penguins. Cammalleri also seemed to be half asleep during this game, not showing the talent that had some comparing him to Lafleur earlier in the weekend.
The question now becomes, did the Canadiens just have an off night after being off the ice since Wednesday or has their luck run out? The Canadiens looked like they were copying the Penguins’ game seven on the ice tonight with penalties that could have been easily avoided.
If the Canadiens continue playing like this, they will be the ones needing to make up a 3-0 series deficit when they hit the ice for game four next Saturday. Will the Flyers continue their Cinderella story to the last round or will the Canadiens push back their nerves and overcome their 6-0 loss from tonight?
