FINALLY YANKEES JOBA RULED

Kate ConroyMay 11, 2010

For one moment, just forget about the New York Yankees two-game losing streak.

If you missed tonights avoidable defeat at the hands of the Detroit Tigers, as expected Sergio Mitre, too little too late on the mound.

In Mitre’s defense, he was not as terrible as last season or as Javier Vazquez has been or as AJ Burnett was against Boston%29&t=h" title="Boston">Boston. There were fielding errors that would have helped Mitre’s case, but mistakes happen.

A bight light did shine Comerica Park, and not the same one in Gardner’s eyes when he let a pop-up drop.

The light was Joba Chamberlain.

This kid is finally just where he should be and tonight proves it.

Joba pitched with complete poise and control.

Striking out the side of a heavy hitting Detroit squad, throwing heaters for strikes. His four-seam fastball reached 98 mph, and never slower than 96 mph.

Joba owned the hill, and it was in his eyes.

Many doubted whether Joba still had what we saw earlier in 2007 and some even thought him done.

I was not one of those people. I knew he had it, but tonight I finally saw it again.

Chamberlain can now join Hughes, as both are the real deal and are not to be touched.

So, what’s the NEW YANKEES RULE for Joba?

Not to have any, as he will rule all on his own.
