Mets Win Thriller After More Barajas Magic
NEW YORK-- The Mets are staying afloat this season, winning games and making sure not to have many losing streaks. This game and win was the best for the Mets maybe since 2006, the year of thrillers.
Ike Davis hit a monster home run off the Pepsi Porch in right field in the second inning and had that followed up by Rod Barajas' eighth home run of the season. The Mets led 3-0 after two.
Ike Davis then hit his second home run of the game in the fourth to extend the lead to 4-1. The most impressive thing about the home runs was that they both came off of a left-handed starter who handn't allowed a home run all season, and hadn't allowed a hit to a lefty hitter all season.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Davis was moved down to seventh in the lineup for the first time this year. Maybe next time Davis faces a lefty, he'll be batting sixth again.
Meanwhile, Mets starter Mike Pelfrey, coming off of a terrible outing at the Phillies on Saturday and a tight shoulder, pitched 7 1/3 quality innings, allowing three runs on eight hits. He didn't walk any batters and struck out four. He got into a little trouble in the eighth but was bailed out by Fernando Nieve.
In the ninth, the Giants rallied to tie the game at four on a pinch-hit home run by John Bowker against Francisco Rodriguez.
The Giants had a chance to take the lead in that inning but Luis Castillo made a diving stop on ball up the middle to stop Aaron Rowand from scoring.
Then Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval popped a ball up in foul territory on the first base side, where Ike Davis made an absolutely amazing, acrobatic catch, flipping over the dugout rail. The second time he has made a play like that this season. It ended the Giants threat in the ninth.
In the bottom of the inning, after Ike Davis was pitched around and walked, Rod Barajas hit a walk-off home run to left field, his second homer of the game, ninth of the season, and third multi-home run game of the season.
The Mets got a much needed win, their eighth straight home victory to improve their overall record this season to 16-13.
