Yankees at Oakland – Pitching Matchups

Will  Javier Vazquez get his first win tonight against the surprising Oakland Athletics who have posted a 9-5 record through their first 14 games? If Vazquez does not get the win tonight and starts the season 0-3, people will start wondering if this is the ‘04 Vazquez who went 14-10 with an ERA of 4.91 instead of the Javier Vazquez who was 4th in Cy Young voting last season with a 15-10 record, and an impressive 2.87 ERA in 219.1 innings pitched.

It’s still early in the season to start guessing, but if Javier doesn’t “pull his socks up”, it will be a long season with the Yankees and the Bronx Bombers faithful.
