UFC LHW Debacle: Give Houston Alexander a Chance
In the last year, the UFC's Light Heavyweight Division has endured its share of problems.
Yes, I'm aware of the arrivals of of Wanderlei Silva, Rampage Jackson, and Shogun Rua—but at the moment UFC has no one to fight the champ.
Here's my proposal:
The winner of the Thiago Silva-Houston Alexander should get a title shot.
Despite being relative newcomers, but both fights deserve it. Alexander is 8-0 with one no contest since losing his first professional fight. Silva, meanwhile, has 11 straight wins to his credit.
Dana White has said that neither fighter would do much more than crack the Top 10 with a victory. But Dana needs to give the fans what they want: fighters who win.
Face it: Rua has been losing lately. Ditto for Wanderlei and Chuck Liddell. Tito Ortiz hasn't impressed. Keith Jardine was dismantled two fights ago.
UFC fans deserve to see winners. Houston Alexander is on the ride of his life—if he's not thrown off against Silva, give him the title shot, will ya!
I'll close with some predictions for UFC 78...
