NBA Betting – Bulls Try to Cool off Blazing Suns

Walker DanielsMar 29, 2010

Take a break from those Final Four odds for a minute and check out this interesting matchup in the NBA on Tuesday, where Chicago will host a red-hot Phoenix team. The Bulls are within arms’ length of the last playoff spot in the East behind Toronto, but the Suns have won seven in a row and are looking to carry some momentum into the postseason.

Suns vs Bulls odds – Tuesday, March 30, 8:00 PM ET

The Suns dropped Minnesota 111-105 on the road on Sunday for their seventh consecutive win, and Amare Stoudamire continued to put on a show with 30 points and 17 rebounds. Stoudamire has been playing out of his mind since the trade deadline, and we really don’t expect anything less as he’s a free agent on the offseason and is looking for a giant contract, whether it’s in Phoenix or elsewhere. Stoudamire has put up 29.4 points and 11.0 rebounds in his last five games, and he’s scored 30 points or more in seven games this month.

We’re hoping that Derrick Rose didn’t bet on the March Madness betting odds of his old college coach, John Calipari, whose Kentucky team were eliminated on Saturday night.  But Rose fared better than Calipari on Sunday, as he had 21 points and assists to lead the Bulls to a 110-103 win in Detroit, with Flip Murray adding 23 points off the bench. The Bulls shot 54.9% from the field against the Pacers, and they’re getting healthier as Joakim Noah is getting back into shape after missing most of March with a foot injury.

NBA odds should favor the Bulls at home in this contest, as the Suns aren’t that great away from home, and in any sport, it’s difficult for teams from the West Coast to play in the East (and vice versa). The Suns will be aiming to avenge a 115-104 loss at home to the Bulls on January 22nd, when they gave up 32 points to Rose, while Stoudamire had 23 points for Phoenix, who have an injury worry about Steve Nash. The two-time MVP has had back problems for most of the season, but he won’t take any time off as the Suns are still in the hunt for a homecourt advantage, and this could be good news for Rose. Nash has trouble guarding quick point guards anyway, and Rose is also strong, so Rose should go right at Nash. The Bulls ultimately have more to play for as they try to catch a slumping Toronto team for the last spot in the East, and that will inspire Chicago to an NBA betting victory.
