2010 NBA Draft: Washington Wizards' Potential Draft Selections

Henry BellMar 23, 2010

A lot of people have been getting all worked up about John Wall and how great he is. But, what people don't realize is that there are others to choose from. Evan Turner, Wes Johnson, Derrick Favors, the list keeps on going.

So, if a team doesn't get John Wall, it's not the end of the world. But, many Wizards fans have been asking, who are we going to get? I'll break it down for you.

Our first choice (if we get lucky in the lottery) is John Wall...just like every other team.

Second choice: Evan Turner, a solid shooting guard who is shooting 44 percent beyond the arc who can attack the hoop with power.  If the Wizards got him he would go to the two position and Mike Miller (if we still have him) can adjust and go to the three. He's a great overall player averaging 20 points a game leading his team throughout the playoffs. Now his nickname, "Mr. Do-it-all," makes sense.

If we end up having picks third to eighth then we can pick up a wide variety of power forwards and centers.

Wesley Johnson coming from Syracuse is an O.K match for the Wizards seeing as he would have to replace our newborn star, Andray Blatche. Nonetheless, he would still be a great choice and if need be Andray Blatche could move to the five. He's averaging 16 points and leading his team to a potential championship which would not hurt his chances.

Another guy who would be an ideal choice would be DeMarcus Cousins. He's a center coming from Kentucky averaging 15 points a game. The reason why he would be perfect is the Wizards do not have a solid center. There's Javale McGee who can rebound and block, but that's not going to cut it.

The Wizards desperately need a decent draft pick seeing their season's record. We need to build for the future along with winning in the mean time.

Change seems to be something that needs to happen in D.C.
