JoeSportsFanMar 23, 2010

JawsMarch 23, 1951 the world was introduced to Ron Jaworski.  Jaws would go on to become a Super Bowl-losing quarterback for the Eagles (better than someone who never made it we suppose) and perhaps just as notable, one of the most prominent football broadcasters of this generation.  Jaworski moved up the media ladder to become the main color man for Monday Night Football, a position he still holds today.

“Last week, he was really stroking it against the Rams.”

“He did a terrific job there of anticipating the opening and stuck it in!”

“The Ravens bring in their heavy offensive package — and it is a heavy offensive package!”

Even his nickname in college – “The Polish Rifle” – was questionable.

Despite all that, we have always considered Jaws one of the best football analysts in the media and a head and shoulder improvement over Joe Theismann, whom he replaced.

Here’s hoping that Jaworski anticipates the opening and strokes a heavy offensive package in there on his birthday.
