Oakland Raiders: Good For The Goose, Gander, and Less Guesswork

Honor Warren Wells TheTorchMar 15, 2010

Accountability is one way to stimulate productivity. Not only are some of the Oakland Raiders being traded, laid off, or fired, everyone else who is some way a part of the action, franchise and Raider Nation need to be looked at, too.

Everybody knows who won the Super Bowl. Does everyone know why one team rises to the top, while others linger at the bottom of the 32 teams? Actually, there is a lot of speculation, and very little to moderate documentation.

Might New Orleans have won because the city needed a boost, and the people needed an injection of victory, rather than experience more losses after those devastating natural calamities that hit New Orleans?

The spirit of a team, or the city, and of the fans just may have something to do with the morale and spirit of the Oakland Raiders.

With that in mind, let's look at the spirit of the Bleacher writers who are a part of the Oakland Raiders team page.

While looking at the data for the Oakland Raiders, the data for the New Orleans Saints BR writers was studied.

Here are a few observations. Nicknames have been created for the FC writers:

1. If "reads" are important, then the most outstanding BR writers in this target group are Add, and Aug. Add is with the Oakland Raiders while Aug is with the New Orleans Saints.

2. Wil is by far getting more reads per article. Next in line are Hin and Dee.

3.  Sav has a like rate of 1.6 and a read per article average of 478.

4. Aug has a like rate of .87 and a read per article average of 816.

5. The Oakland Raiders' BR FC writers have higher averages than the New Orleans Saints BR FC writers.

What does this mean to the researcher? The spirit of the Raider Nation is superb when compared to the spirit of the Super Bowl champions as measured by the like rate, reads per number of articles average, and cumulative totals of reads.

What's the problem? We have the spirit, but the spirit has not hit the team, yet!

How do we transfer the spirit? What's blocking the transfer?

Most of us hear about the boycott, the billboard, and the articles that berate our team, coach, Al Davis and the entire franchise.

It's about time more of us do all types of research to support the argument that "WE LOVE THE OAKLAND RAIDERS, AND WE WORK HARD TO SHOW IT."

You have heard the old saying, "What's good for the goose is good for the gander."

Well, we are a team of writers and fans who are determined to take the guesswork out of the picture. We know that there is talent, commitment and excellence, as well as a great deal of potential in the collective spirit of the Oakland Raiders and the Raider Nation.

Enough of this talk about how bad things are. We, in the Raider Nation who are writers for BR are doing our job of cheering the team to victory.

Now the team must do its job, of giving us those victories.

If the members of the Raider Nation are the ganders, and the Oakland Raiders are "geese", then what is good for the geese is good for the ganders.

Note: Most data was collected near 3:59 pm, CST, Mar. 15, 2010

Postlude

A chart is included to visualize comparisons. A top writer for the Oakland Raiders, Ram, is included for a contrast.
