Orlando Riding Dwight Howard's Magic To 8 Straight Wins
As the season has progressed forward as have the defending Eastern Conference Champion Orlando Magic. With 5 new players joining the team in the offseason, and the 10 game suspension of All Star forward Rashard Lewis, it was easy to see why the Magic offense struggled to begin the season. However, as the team chemistry grows game in and game out the players grow with it. The Magic have reeled off 8 straight wins with Lebron James and Cleveland and Kobe Bryant and the Lakers laying in the wake. The win streak could turn to tie a franchise record at nine straight with a win tonight against the Charlotte Bobcats who will be without their All Star small forward Gerald Wallace. Wallace has been reported to have sprained his left ankle and will miss a few games as he is listed day to day.
Dwight Howard has been the human barometer all season long for this Orlando team. The superstar big man leads the league in blocks, rebounds, FT attempts, and dunks. Howard is also number 2 in the league in field goal percentage. Last night in Washington Howard poured in 28 points to go along with 15 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. The Magic took the game easily as Howard and point guard Jameer Nelson both sat out most of the fourth quarter to leave them well rested for their divisional matchup tonight.
With the second spot in the Eastern conference becoming more and more of a reality after each game, this Magic team seems like a much more hungry and determ
