The Jets Need To Sign a WR!!!

This offseason has been fairly good to the Jets so far.  Now let's keep in mind that the Jets have been held back thanks to the new "final eight" rule.  They have been able to trade for one of the best CBs in football in Antonio Cromartie, trade Kerry Rhodes for extra draft picks, an sign his replacement in Brodney Pool.  They also released Thomas Jones, which not everyone agrees with.  But now they are going after LT to replace him.

With all of these moves kept in mind, the Jets have yet to make a move for another WR, which they desperately need.  They may draft one in the upcoming NFL Draft, but that would not completely solve our problem at the position.  There are still great WRs available in free agency that the Jets should look at:

Brandon Marshall:

Marshall was given a first-round tender by the Broncos.  This may not be the best idea, giving up a first round pick for a troubled WR, but he has caught 100+ passes in each of the last 3 seasons and he is only turning 26 later this month.  He would be worth the risk, but the price may be a little too high for the Jets.

Laverneous Coles:

Coles was just released by the Bengals and he said he would welcome a return back to New York.  He is 32, however, and was not very effective with the Bengals last year.  He would take a small salary and he would be a nice addition to the Jets.

Golden Tate:

Tate had an excellent college career with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  He would be a great addition to the Jets as a slot reciever.  He has great hands and great speed, but he is also short and not a good look in the red zone.  If the Jets cannot sign any WRs in free agency, I would love for them to draft Golden Tate.

Of course there are many other options out there for the Jets in both free agency and the draft, but I would love to see the Jets get any of these three guys.  Signing one of them or drafting Tate could be the move that brings us to an elite status in the NFL.
