JaMarcus Russell; Lethargy Addiction?

Joey G.Mar 11, 2010

As you may remember, I am the kid who wrote JaMarcus Russell: The Future. Many of you read and posted comments for that and i appreciate the conversation.

But now I'm here to report something terrible..reports have surfaced the last few days (and frankly I am very surprised nobody has reported this yet on BR) that for the good part of this offseason, Oakland Raider Quarterback JaMarcus Russell has been in rehab recovering from a lethargy addiction.

Lethargy addiction by definition states:

"a state of comatose torpor (as found in sleeping sickness)"

"inanition: weakness characterized by a lack of vitality or energy "

"inactivity; showing an unusual lack of energy"

As many of you know, JR has been accused of being lazy, fat, and having a horrible work ethic. And if these reports turn out to be true, which I really hope not, then it will confirm what many Raider Nation members have been fearing. (or hoping for depending on who you ask)

But there are no follow up reports that have confirmed this just yet, just as there have been no confirmations of him working out in Arizona.

But lets all hope those are true and these most recent reports are false.

I ask you not to jump into any conclusions just yet, give it time to develop and see where this story goes.

As you may have known, I am an avid JaMarcus supporter. I feel he has more than what it takes to be the franchise quarterback for us and this Oakland Raider team. He has everything it takes and more. The only thing missing is production.

If in fact these rumors are true, I might just give up on him. The last thing we need is a quarterback who spends the better half of the offseason in a treatment clinic suffering from "lethargy addiction".

Unless he reports to camp with a significant weight loss and better mechanics, give the job to Bruce. Who, in my opinion, is no where near the answer for us at the quarterback position.

If it were me, i would bring in Troy Smith from the Baltimore Ravens. Seeing as the Ravens put a 5th round tender and we have two 5th round picks, he would be a steal bringing him into camp and would instantly be a heavy favorite for the starting job.

If not then i hope we take one of these two QBs in the 3rd round: Jarrett Brown, West Virginia; Dan LeFevour, Central Michigan. Both could be great quarterbacks down the road with a little bit of time behind Gradkowski.

If anything lets hope JR is working at it and I'm just talking out of my ass.

I will be reporting more as this story continues.

Thank you for the read.

This is marcuss signing out.
