MVP Talks: Who Is Better Then LeBron James?
It is no longer too late to talk about who is going to be the MVP. Even though LeBron James has been thought to be the front runner, the spots behind him have moved around, and shifted.
But I am here to tell you that James is not the rightful MVP. Here is a players stats alone compared to James'
PPG 30.0, 29.6
RPG 7.2, 7.5
APG 8.5, 2.8
FT% 77.7, 88.4
FG% 50.6, 47.8
3P% 34.7, 38.1
James is better in half of those categories, and also worse in half.
Lets take both teams stats from a year ago to now with Cleveland first and the other team second.
Winning percentage difference
That is HUGE difference in team success. So who is this other player that should actually be the MVP? None other then Kevin Durant.
I want to take a look at the actual meaning of this award.
It is called MVP.Tthat stands for most valuable player. Not the absolute best player, but most valuable, who without him the team would be nowhere. We got a glimpse of what Cleveland looks like without James. They have gone 4-1 in their last five games and routing some teams.
A team without Kevin Durant is no team at all. The Thunder would once again be at the very bottom of the standings trying to figure out how to stay afloat.
I have seen it said that the only chance Durant has of being MVP is if the Thunder win 50 games. As of right now they are on pace to win 51 maybe 52 games. They show no signs of slowing for they are a bright, young team that wants a shot.
I urge everyone to think about what this award actually means. I think this year more then ever people should take into account what Valuable means. Personal stats are not everything. Team stats are.
The fact of the matter is the Cavs have many many weapons on their team, where as the Thunder do not.
