Weekly Mock Munch: Bradford Consensus No. 1, Suh Consensus No. 2

Mark ButerbaughMar 9, 2010

The NFL Mock Draft Database weekly mock munch is complete.  Wow.  Free agency, Combine, and rumors have changed alot.  Some jumped high in % at their spot, some plummeted.  Out of the Top 9, we have 1 new lead change, and 3 Consensus Leaders (Consensus require 60% of mocks to project that player).  This week we munched the 92 most updated mock drafts updated between 3/3/10 and 3/9/10.  This will give you the ultimate picture of just what the Mocks drafts are projecting based on their gut, their analysis, their inside info, and their perception of each teams needs.

The Mock Draft Databases are on Twitter, you can also visit our Forums, or via our Brand News Mobile apps for iPhone and Android.

Here are the current Database Stats:

Total Mocks:  329 Mocks

Updated in March:   107 Mocks

BRIEF COMMENTARY:   The first 3 picks are now Consensus picks.  To be declared Consensus by the Mock Database, a player must garner at least 60% of the projection. That has occurred at the Top 3 spots.  What a change in just two weeks.  Meanwhile, the player that had the highest percentage last week, CB Joe Haden at No. 7, still leads there, but plummets from 56% down to 36%.  No doubt free agency will continue to effect the mocks and their projections.  The big question is, when can we expect our first Top 9 draft trade?  Or can't we expect any?

STOCK UP: Sam Bradford weighed in and bulked up his physique and apparently has become the favorite to go No. 1 overall to the Rams.  OT Bryan Bulaga made a move for the leading spot at No. 9 with Buffalo, but is also projected by several mocks between  #5 and #6.  OT Bruce Campbell had the best NFL Combine.  He also is being projected in the Top 9 by 50 of the 92 most updated mocks. OT Trent Williams and LB Rolando McClain are starting to gain respect by some mocks for worthy Top 9 picks.

Keeping an Eye onTaylor Mays running event at the Combine had little effect with mock writers.  He actually was booted out of the Top 9 by the few mocks that projected him there.  Only 4 of the 92 mocks project him a Top 9 pick. Keep an eye on if DT Gerald McCoy starts to slide.  Keep an eye on whether OT Trent Williams starts to move up.

On to the Munch Leaders for the Top 9 Picks.  For a further breakdown of the 2nd and 3rd choices at each of the Top 9 slots, go to our FORUM Thread.  Not only do we provide the leader breakdowns at the Top 9 spots, but also the % change form last week.  This is quality stuff for you draftniks.  We ENCOURAGE and INVITE you to JOIN our Forum and discuss the draft with us.  Tell us your thoughts.  It's an open thread.

1st Pick:  ST. LOUIS RAMS (CONSENSUS PICK)

Change:  NO  Percentage:  74% (+31%)

QB Sam Bradford. Obviously a ton of comfort with mock writers projecting Bradford to St. Louis.  He was the biggest gainer this week, jumping 31% to a Consensus leading 74% of the 92 mocks projecting him to the Rams.  This could easily change if the Rams pull off a trade for a quarterback.  There are rumors of discussion for various QBs, which tells me, the Rams will pick Bradford at No. 1, but if they can avoid it for the right deal, they likely will.

Trends:  It's all Bradford, as he gains 31% in just one week.

2nd Pick:  DETROIT LIONS (CONSENSUS PICK)

Change:  NO   Percentage:  63% (+12%)

DT Ndamukong Suh.  As Bradford gains at No. 1, Suh gains at No. 2.  If Bradford is indeed the No. 1 pick, I don't think there is anyway Detroit passes up on this beast of a defensive tackle. He is the best defensive player in the Draft and one who can step in and make an impact immediately.  Some mocks project McCoy over Suh.  Don't believe that hype.

Trends:  As Bradford gains at No. 1, Suh gains to No. 2.  Keep an eye on OT Russell Okung here.  Okung jumped to 14 mock projections out of 92.  Last week, Okung was in low single digits.  CLICK READ BELOW AT BOTTOM FOR REST OF ARTICLE
