Denver Broncos Mock Draft V 5.0 Trades
Let me start off by saying that none of this is going to happen. In fact, if even 2 of these things happened, I die of a heart attack. But it is always fun to speculate. So in this draft, we are going to take a look at what would happen if we traded away almost everybody that we could. So here are the projected trades.
Brandon Marshall to the Seattle Seahawks for the #6 pick.
Elvis Dumervil to the Miami Dolphins for the 12th pick and a 3rd rounder

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Kyle Orton to the Arizona Cardnials for their 2nd rounder and a 4th rounder
Tony Scheffler to the Cincinnati Bengals for their 2nd rounder
Kris Kuper and Peyton Hillis to the Washington Redskins for their 2nd rounder a 5th round and a 4th rounder in 2011.
Okay a few explanations. I picked the Seahawks for Marshall because they have shown the most interest so far. Elvis would be a perfect fit in Miami as he would reunite with Nolan. I know that Kyle and Kris were tendered for 1sts but I think both of those trades are fair enough compensation. Personally thats more then I would give them, but McD tendered a 1st to them both so any team would have to package picks to get them. I think Tony would thrive from being with Carson Palmer. A word of caution: With all these trades it can get confusing to follow all of the picks, but I will do my best to make everything clear. So here we go. Our picks are:
1st Round
# 6 (from Seattle trade for BMarsh)
# 12 (from Miami trade for Dumervil)
2nd Round
# 37 (from Washington trade for Kuper/Hillis)
# 54 (from Cincinnati trade for Scheffler)
# 58 (from Arizona trade for Orton)
3rd Round
# 74 (from Miami trade for Dumervil)
4th Round
# 124 (from Arizona trade for Orton)
5th Round
# 137 (from Washington for Kuper/Hillis)
6th Round
7th Round
It is Christmas in April folks. Talk about going young. Like I said, this is all highly unlikely, actually pretty much impossible. However, why not have a little bit of fun? So lets start. Oh wait one more thing...
Denver trades #12 (from Miami trade for Dumervil), future 4th rounder (from Washington trade for) and a 5th rounder next year to the Kansas City Chiefs for Matt Cassel.
With Kyle Orton gone, we need a QB. If Kansas City is bold enough to reunite Clausen with Weis, we snag Cassel up for some draft picks. This gives McD the player he has wanted since he got to Denver. He is young and gives us a future to look forward to. Now we start drafting with:
#6 (from Seattle trade for Marshall)- Rolando McClain ILB from Alabama
He is the best linebacker in this draft. He would be an instant upgrade over Andra Davis. It's the same thing you have read in almost every mock draft about him. He is a great player. I wasn't sure he could fall all the way to #11, but with the 6th pick, we are sure to have him.
#11 traded to the New England Patriots for their 1st round pick #22 and 2nd rounder # 47
#22 (from New England)- Dan Williams DT from Tennessee
A very strong player who would give us some talent in the trenches. He is great in run defense which is exactly what we needed to shore up this off season. He has a way better work ethic then a certain other Nose Tackle(Terrence "The Fatty" Cody. I like Williams' potential.
# 37 (from Washington trade for Kuper/Hillis)- Maurkice Pouncey C from Florida
Pouncey is an ideal prospect for any team looking for a center with a promising future. He is strong, versatile and plays with a mean streak. He would compete with Seth Olsen for the starting job. I think Maurkice would be a much needed addition to our offensive line.
# 45- Corey Wooton- DE from NorthWestern
Corey is a mammoth at 6 ft 7. He is quick and powerful and can even drop back into coverage(4 Int's in college). He would add some much needed depth to our D-line.
# 47 (from New England)- Tim Tebow QB from Florida
Yes that's right folks. We still need to pick up a QB since we only have 2( Cassel and Brandstater). Everyone dogs Tebow because nobody thinks he can play quarterback in the NFL. I fiercly disagree. He is going to be a project. If we get Cassel then there is no need for us to rush Tebow. We can have him sit back and work on that form. Practice will make perfect. While he perfects his form, we can use him in the Wild Horses offense. I guarantee that he will be a huge asset in the Wild Horses until he can take over as the starting QB.
# 54 (from Cincinnati trade for Scheffler)- Brandon LaFell WR from LSU
With Marshall gone, we bring in a new Brandon to help fill his place. Brandon LaFell has the ideal height to play an outside position. He ran a 4.5 at the Combine and he has a ton of upside. I like this kid a lot. He has the potential to be a legit # 1 receiver in this league. He would help ease the blow of losing Brandon Marshall
# 58 (from Arizona trade for Orton) Chad Jones S from LSU.
With all of the 2nd rounders we have, there was no way we could not pick up a safety in this very deep safety class. Jones was a 2 sport athlete in college. He is very athletic and an extremely hard hitter. He struggles a bit in coverage, but nothing that Martendale and Dawkins can't help him with.
# 74 (from Miami trade for Dumervil) Alex Carrington DE from Arkansas St.
Alex burst onto the NFL scene during the Senior Bowl where he impressed teams with his size and speed. He is an intriguing prospect in the 3-4 defense scheme. Don't let his college fool you. He had offers from LSU and Mississipi but picked Arkansas St. so he could stay closer to his son.
# 81- John Jerry OG from Mississippi
Josh McD wants to get big up front and it could start with Jerry. Jerry is 6 ft 6 332 pounds. He is a good pass blocker and a better run blocker. He set an Ole Miss record while benching 225 pounds 34 times. He is a massive force that would give us some major depth in the guard position
# 115- Eric Decker WR from Minnesota
Decker is the same height as LaFell standing at 6 ft 3. He has excellent hands. He doesn't have breakaway speed, but is great at tracking the ball over his shoulder and is good at being aware of the 1st down marker. He would also help us with the loss of Marshall.
# 124- (trade from Arizona for Orton)- Tony Moeaki TE from Iowa
Tony Moeaki is very similar to Scheffler in many ways. Moeaki is a great receiving tight end. We all know that McDaniels likes blocking tight ends. Moeaki is an underrated blocker. He has the bulk and strength to hold off defensive ends. If McD can find a way to implement tight ends a little more then Moeaki would be a great addition. Caution: injury questions come with Moeaki.
# 137- (trade from Washington for Kuper/Hillis)- Rashawn Jackson FB from Virginia
With Hillis leaving, we have a need as at fullback. Hillis did a good job blocking for Moreno and Buckhalter. Rashawn Jackson has flipped from Linebacker to Running Back to Fullback all throughout college. He is a good blocker with enough power to get a good push in short yard situations. He has had a prior arrest that is troubling. He would need to answer questions about that in order to get drafted in this spot.
# 186- Myron Rolle- S from Florida State
Okay 2 things. 1. There is no way that Rolle lasts this long. If he lasts this long then I will never write an article ever again. 2. If by some miraculous reason he lasts this long, the team who gets him will be getting the biggest steal in the history of the NFL. He is a first/second round talent. For a talent like him to be drafted in the 6th round would be incomprehensible. However, I am making all of these picks based on CBS player ratings. So they say he is going to be drafted a few spots before 186. Rolle is an extremely smart player. He is good in coverage. He tackles hard. Like I said, no way no how he lasts this long, but nevertheless there it is. I don't care if Denver has 20 safeties on there team, If Rolle is there in the 6th round then they are taking him.
# 224- Brent Bowden- P from Virginia Tech
I would like to get Zoltan Mesko in this selection, but that is looking less likely as the months progress. Bowden is a good 2nd option. He has placed 72 punts inside his opponents' 20 yard line. He has good hang time and direction. He is an instant upgrade over Berger.
I don't know about you, but that was fun for me. I would enjoy having all of these players. So I have us drafting:
ILB Rolando McClain from Alabama
DT Dan Williams from Tennessee
C Maurkice Pouncey from Florida
DE Corey Wooton from Northwestern
QB Tim Tebow from Florida
WR Brandon LaFell from LSU
S Chad Jones from LSU
DE Alex Carrington from Arkansas St.
OG John Jerry from Mississippi
WR Eric Decker from Minnesota
TE Tony Moeaki from Iowa
FB Rashawn Jackson from Virginia
s Myron Rolle from Florida St
P Brent Bowden Virginia Tech
As always, comments are welcome. But before you comment, I don't want to hear anything about how unrealistic this is. My response to you is going to be: DUH! This is not supposed to be a realistic mock draft. It is a mock draft for fun. With that in mind, I look forward to conversing about this draft. What do you think?
