"Cool" goalie Price helps Canadiens ice Bruins

Kevin van SteendelaarNov 8, 2007

The Canadiens appeared on the score sheet late in the first period when Francis Bouillon took a Bostonturnover and relayed it up to a fast moving Andrei Kostitsyn, passing it on to Tomas Plekanec who beat Tim Thomas through the five hole. Alex Kovalev pushed it over the line to ensure Thomas would not reach it.

Tomas Plekanec (now #14) 1 goal and 1 assist

The same scoring line would produce again about nine minutes into the second period with Plekanec assuring credit for the second goal making a nice move after getting a backhanded pass from Kostitsyn.

Marco Strum netted the lone Boston goal at the 14:12 mark of the period, putting a rebound past rookie goalie Carey Price during a scramble in front of the Montreal goal.

The Bruins had a fantastic opportunity to tie it with seven minutes remaining in the third period and having a 1:57 two man power-play. With Mike Komisarek and Francis Bouillon both in the penalty box, the Canadiens, let by an extremely cool and confident Price between the pipes and some aggressive penalty killing, managed to kill off the  entire disadvantage and secure the victory.

There was a tense moment shortly after the penalty kill when Bruins winger Aaron Ward made a quick turnaround and collided with Bouillon as he was leaving the penalty box. A stretcher was brought out right away but Ward was able to leave the ice with some assistance.

Tim Thomas, who was substituted last minute for expected rookie Tuukka Rask, stopped 30 of 32 shots faced.
