Bruins Bruin Up Bad News For Other Teams Going Into Break

The Boston Bruins go into the nice long break with a very impressive winning streak under their belt winning their last four and getting points in their last six. They finished the month of February with a 4-1-2 record. In the month of January they went 3-9-2 and fell very quickly out of the playoffs with their worst losing streak in almost 100 years. 

In that ten game losing streak the Bruins scored more then two goals once and scored one or less goal in five of those games. You cannot win games scoring that little.

The last four games they have scored three or more goals in all of them with an impressive 5-4 win over the Tampa Lightning. In that game they were up 4-0 after the first period, and were up 5-0 at one point. Yes they let the lightning get back into it, but when it mattered the most they shut them down. 

So why the sudden success for this team? Three things, Rask, toughness, and confidence. 

The emergence of their goalie Rask has been huge for this team. He played every game of that four game winning streak, and had a GGA of 2.00 in that winning streak. He saved 36 out of 36 goals against the Canadians to start the streak. Having a shutout certainly helps your changes of getting off a losing streak. He is a young and very determined goalie who looks to have a bright future in Boston. 

In the four game winning streak the Bruins have been a very physical team, getting into fights in all of those games and just playing with an intensity that has been lacking for perhaps over a month. 

Now that the Bruins have been winning and scoring goals they finally have the confidence to compete and be the team they were last year.
