Toronto Maple Leafs Are Gettin' Giggy With It ! New Comers Shine In Debut

Eric WarrenFeb 3, 2010

It has been three days since Brian Burke pulled off the largest and obviously most productive trades in recent Toronto Maple Leafs history.

The three newcomers were a collective breath of fresh air for us all last night!

Fans are loving the deals, the team seems to have reacted well to the new players and there is a new hope in Leafs Nation.

So, with all of this renewed optimism one has to ask, why are almost all of the 'so called' hockey experts, including some of my respected colleagues here on Bleacher Report, pissing all over the deals?

Brian Burke's Bold Moves Won't Turn Around the Toronto Maple Leafs

Bob McCowan and Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet, a day after the trade were quick to dismiss the potential impact that the new comers would have on the team. They were in fact quick to point out and focus on the fact that the Leafs had in fact only accomplished trading away more than half of their offence.

I have news for you fellows, if you knew what you were talking about, Burke wouldn't be the GM of the Leafs would he?

The fact of the matter is, Brian Burke got rid of some players who lacked passion in this market place. Perhaps with the exception of Ian White, to a man, the former Leafs in these deals, no longer wanted to be Leafs and it showed on the ice with their sub par performance.

The prominent perception on the part of these experts, is that we as fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs , have become disillusioned some how. That we are planning a parade route down Young street already.

We aren't idiots (The plan has been in place for years).

We do however have a renewed faith and optimism that had, until now, been fading faster than the teams playoff hopes.

Giguere, Phaneuf, and Sjostrom had an immediate impact on the team. From the first time they hit the ice at practice, the whole team had a renewed swagger.

To the experts, I have a proposal. Sit back, relax, enjoy some good hockey, and get Giggy with it.
