NBA Mock Drafts: Dallas Mavericks select...Who Cares?
Ok, so the mock drafts have come out, and here are the potential picks for the Dallas Mavericks: forward James Gist (nbadraft.net), center Semih Erden (draftexpress) and wing Malik Hairston (Chad Ford). I'm sorry if none of these inspire much confidence in me as a Mavs fan.
I'm afraid that the Mavericks are in the no man's land that the 7th-10th place teams in each conference fall in to: not enough success to lure in fans and free agents, but not enough losing to be in position to draft a difference maker. Gist, Erden, and Hairston just don't strike me as being LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal, or even Josh Howard.
The Mavericks draft this year was basically Jason Kidd who, even with declining skills, is still more of a difference-maker than anyone they would've gotten drafting in the around 20 in the first round. So, barring a trade into the first round, I don't see the Mavericks doing anything that will excite me as a fan on Thursday night.
Kinda like how that didn't do anything to excite me as a fan the last few nights of the playoffs.
One more thing: I'm thinking of getting a Siamese Twin voodoo doll, half Pavel Podkolzine and half Nick Fazekas, and naming it Sasha Kaun. Not saying what I'll do to it if they draft that stiff.
The writer's above claim is merely ficticious and hopefully, humorous. There is no actual intent to harm Comrade Podkolzine, Mr. Fazekas, or Mr. Kaun.
