NHL Votes on Top 5 Teams of The Decade: Wings Own Two of The Spots
With the end of the year quickly approaching, NHL.com has been counting down the best of the decade. Today, they gave the top five teams of the decade .
Two of the five teams were Red Wings. The Wings also owned the top spot with the 2001-02 team that won the Stanley Cup. I don't really think that's much of a surprise.
However, the Wings also owned the third spot with the 2007-08 team that beat Pittsburgh for the Stanley Cup.

Other teams on the list were the 2000-01 Colorado Avalanche, the 2003-04 Tampa Bay Lightning, and the 2005-06 Carolina Hurricanes.
Another Red Wings team was also given honorable mention. The 2005-06 team that was defeated in the first round of the playoffs was considered the best team to not win the Stanley Cup.
This just goes to show how good of a dynasty the Red Wings have. They haven't missed the playoffs in over two decades and in that time, they have won four Stanley Cups.
With Illitch being voted as the best NHL owner last year, it just goes to show the bright years that we have been having in Detroit.
However, I think that we're a little bit more concerned about this year than we are about previous ones. This year is going to be different. This is the first time that we have questioned our ability to make the playoffs.
I hope that we can turn the year around and have another top team for another decade. Who knows, maybe this will be the best comeback the Wings have ever had!
