Dear John Cena Haters: You Are Spot On
I'm going to make this short and sweet. I came across a ridiculous article earlier from a person who is most likely 12. He gave numerous highly debatable reasons to why we should give Cena more respect and encouraged us to reject the seemingly unfair prejudice that is placed upon him.
1. He never puts anyone over.
The Miz.
He also wins the majority of feuds that he is involved in:
Big Show (numerous times), Booker T, Carlito, JBL, Kurt Angle, Edge (numerous times), Umaga (R.I.P), Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton(The most frustrating in my opinion, without question), Chris Jericho etc. The list goes on long enough to merit its own article
The only feud that he has lost was with Batista (disregarding the Lesnar debacle), and well, he is a similar story.
Don't even get me started on Undertaker, who was disrespected by Dave Ashbourne in the article to which I am writing this response to. I do not know how you can call yourself a fan with such a deluded comment.
2. His Promos/Matches are boring and repetitive.
Undoubtedly so. Cena has had the same gimmick ever since he ended his feud with Lesnar in 2003. That's six years, meaning that we have seen it all before. The novelty has well and truly worn off.
He only ever loses a match cleanly if he is to win the next important match in the feud: Randy Orton at Hell In a Cell, Triple H before Bragging Rights.
His matches always follow the same pattern. His opponent goes through a sustained period of dominance, before Cena, at the very end, when all hope seems to be lost, stages a remarkable comeback that showcases a remarkable feat of strength. One, two, three. Que Cena's hand raised in undeserved victory.
3. He has only four moves.
He may know more than four but in the majority of his matches that is all that he uses. You make the argument about Austin?(Ashbourne's article) He wasn't forced down our throats like Cena is. His gimmick was spectacular in comparison to Cena's excruciatingly painful persona. You are NOT a marine Cena. It was a movie. You do not see Harrison Ford wearing his Indiana Jones hat everywhere, so just give it up.
4. He is the epitome of the PG era.
Yes, it doesn't matter who made him the face of a frustratingly reformed PG enterprise, the fact remains that he is. DX, they are moderately enjoyable and have a huge nostalgia factor associated with them, which encourages us to forget about the PG era, regardless of their actions.
5. He's Gay.
Just because you have a wife does not ensure that you are not gay. Although I have nothing against gay people, many people have wives while maintaining a homosexual orientation. Are you really that naive? Despite this, I do not assume that he is gay and have no idea as to why that was mentioned.
I have provided a link to the article which I am attempting to argue against.
By the way, I would argue that the Undertaker is the biggest draw in wrestling today, and Michaels and Orton would be up there with Cena near the top.
Thanks.
