Dear Cena-Haters...What are you on about?

Dave AshbourneDec 11, 2009

Dear Cena Bashers,

I've had enough. Hating John Cena doesn't make you cool, it doesn't make you smart, and it certainly doesn't make you any more of a wrestling fan. This article is most likely going to be a waste of time, as I have learned that Cena-Haters are often the most stubborn fans. But nevertheless, I am going to address some of the issues people have with the biggest star in wrestling today.

1. He never puts anyone over.

First off I just want to say, if this is your main argument against Cena, then there's a lot of wrestlers you should have a problem with too. I mean, yes, Cena wins a lot of matches, but he hardly wins all of them.

If you want to see someone who literally never puts anyone over, look at the Undertaker. I honestly think he has lost once CLEANLY in the last year. I mean, he destroyed CM Punk in Hell in a Cell. He even tombstoned Cena not too long ago. Of course, some people are gonna say, "But Undertaker deserves it, he's been in the business so many years and blah blah blah."

What are you on about? He's constantly injured, lays waste to up and coming talent, outside his wrestling and gimmick he's nothing. Meanwhile, John Cena has put his heart and soul into the business. He's not a sell-out like The Rock, no one can deny that at any moment he could pursue a career in Hollywood, but he's still wrestling, house shows and all. Anyway, I kinda digressed a little, so next point...

2. His promos/matches are boring and repetitive

Leading up to Bragging Rights and Cena's Iron Man Match with Orton, (a month after he lost to Orton CLEANLY at HIAC) almost everyone was complaining about the match before it even happened.

Please don't deny this, it was one hell of a match. His match with Triple H before Bragging Rights (which he lost CLEANLY), another classic, as was the triple threat at Survivor Series, and many many more. So what, he's not the most technically superior superstar, but hardly anyone is in WWE these days. But he is a damn good brawler, and he puts on some amazing matches.

As for his promos, sure they include the same  "I will not quit" theme, just as Undertaker does the "Rest in Peace" deal almost every week and Punk does the whole straight edge thing. So you can have a go at him for that. Some say he always goes over the top with his promos, well at least he doesn't seem as if he's reading from a script! There is so much passion behind what he says, it's almost as if he's not acting! What more can you ask for?

3. He only has four moves

Attitude Adjustment, STF, Diving Leg Drop, Bulldog, Fireman Suplex, Five Knuckle Shuffle, Running Leaping Shoulder Block, Running One Handed Bulldog, Sitout Hip Toss, Thesz Press, Throwback, Twisting Belly to Belly Suplex. Not only is that more than four, but it's the same amount of moves that Stone Cold Steve Austin has according to Wikipedia...interesting...

4. He’s the epitome of PG WWE

Ok, I’ve heard this one a lot, and I don’t really understand it. I mean, the guy has a script he has to follow, how can you blame him for that? He is one of the few wrestlers who has bled over the last year, (and he even tried pushing the medical staff away). Please, if you are going to blame someone for the PG Era, blame Vince. And if you’re going to complain about the effects of the PG Era, LOOK AT DX FOR GOD SAKE!

5. He’s gay.

Errr, no he’s not. He has a wife.

So I think that about sums it up? If not, please feel free to post a comment with more reasons why you, or others hate him, and I will gladly counter them

But first off, I would just like to talk about Cena-Haters I general. I believe there are two kinds: 1. The people who think they are really cool/more know about wrestling because they diss him, and 2. The Sheep. People who just complain for the sake of complaining. I don’t know which is more pathetic…

Anyway here’s the facts, John Cena is the biggest draw in wrestling today, whether you like him or not. He is an idol to almost every young wrestling fan, and he is not going anywhere, because if he did, the WWE would be destroyed. So you have two options, keep complaining pointlessly, or shut up and appreciate the immense talent of the biggest thing in wrestling since The Rock and Stone Cold.
