Bill Belichick might be losing out on the services of his longtime football research director, Ernie Adams, but he had his most valuable assistant by his side on the last day of the NFL draft.

Nike, an Alaskan Klee Kai that was adopted by Belichick and his longtime girlfriend Linda Holliday in 2018, became a viral star during last year's draft, when the cameras went to the war room and found him sitting in the head coach's chair.

He must have impressed last season, because in the video, Belichick consulted him before making the team's seventh-round pick. The team ultimately selected wide receiver Tre Nixon out of Central Florida at No. 242 overall.

Depending on how Nixon's rookie year pans out, Nike could earn a promotion before the 2022 draft.Â
