First Round Pick Back?

As everybody knows, the Leafs are having very bad time. They are not playing to potential, not trusting in Toskala (understandable) and are also having their fair share of bad luck and bounces. Kaberle is having a superb start to this still early season, as is Kessel upon his return. Now as much as I love Kessel being in a Leaf jersey and wouldn't give him at all. It is hard to forget that if we didn't trade our first overall pick this year we would have one of Taylor Hall, Cam Fowler, or Tyler Seguin. All three of those young men are amazing cornerstone, franchise players. I know the Leafs won't be that sad if we do not get any of those because Kessel is only 22 and will be around for a while with the Leafs and I can't see him doing poorly especially when Kadri is his new centre next year. It would be very nice to see both Toskala and The Monster to show they can handle the starting job, so that Toskala can be used for trade bait.

This way maybe there is a possible way we could give Boston Kaberle, Toskala and take some fairly big salary dumps off their backs as well; because I am aware of their financial pains. In return the Leafs could have back their 1st round pick. Now maybe that still seems fairly unlikely to happen. Well Toronto could also include a Jiri Tlusty, Jimmy Hayes, Nikolai Kulemin or Mikhail Grabovski (or maybe a Matt Stajan or a Combination). Now I believe that to be a great deal especially if Boston is in a playoff position which they will be. Kaberle would make their defense very desire able and Toskala could be good depth in net then Tlusty could very well be a great sniper for them. Tlusty paired with Savard could bring out what is hidden with in Tlusty. Since the Leafs are not making the playoffs then getting their pick back would be a very good idea for them. Cam Fowler could take Kaberle's place, Taylor Hall could give the Leafs one of the Leagues best first lines- Hall Kadri Kessel. Or Sequin could give them great depth in the centre position with Sequin as your number one or two and Kadri as the other your looking pretty good. Then you would still have Bozak. Which leads me to believe Hall is the best choice. You could have combos of Hall Bozak Hanson - Stalberg Kadri Kessel. Now this idea seems out of reach but I really think Toronto needs to try with everything they got to make it happen. As for the 2011 first rounder I truly think it is not big deal to not have that pick. Burke should and hopefully is thinking about this as we speak.The price may even be more hefty then that but maybe since Boston has two first rounders next year as well the thought of having Kaberle along with Chara and Wideman may tempt them a little more.
