Daily Fantasy Football Week 4: DraftKings, FanDuel Strategies and Value Picks

Kristopher KnoxOct 2, 2020

Miami Dolphins signal-caller Ryan Fitzpatrick isn't exactly known as a reliable franchise quarterback. The bearded journeyman is, however, a skilled gunslinger who can put up fantasy points in a hurry.

The 37-year-old passed for 328 yards and two touchdowns in Week 2 and threw for 160 yards, rushed for 38 and scored three total touchdowns in Week 3.

With a favorable matchup against the Seattle Seahawks and their 32nd-ranked pass defense in Week 4, Fitzpatrick could be one heck of a fantasy value.

In daily fantasy sports (DFS), value is the name of the game. If you're looking to sign up a premier player like Josh Jacobs or DeAndre Hopkins, you're usually going to have to take some budget options at other positions. However, this doesn't mean you can't get great value and production out of that selection.

Fitzpatrick, for example, could end up as a top-10 fantasy quarterback in Week 4. Yet, he's the 24th-most expensive at the position on DraftKings with a price tag of just $5,400.

Here, you'll find a look at some other quality value options for DraftKings and FanDuel in Week 4.

Week 4 Value Targets

Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Miami Dolphins: $5.4K DraftKings, $7.1K FanDuel

Nick Mullens, QB, San Francisco 49ers: $5.2K, $6.6K

Darrell Henderson, RB, Los Angeles  Rams: $5.8K,  $6.4K

Jerick McKinnon, RB, San Francisco 49ers: $5.7K, $6.0K

Latavius Murray, RB, New Orleans Saints: $4.9K, $4.9K

Robby Anderson, WR, Carolina Panthers: $5.4K, $6.2K

Jarvis Landry, WR, Cleveland Browns: $5.1K, $5.7K

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, San Francisco 49ers: $5.0K, $5.1K

Dalton Schultz, TE, Dallas Cowboys: $4.3K, $4.9K

Mo Alie-Cox, TE, Indianapolis Colts: $3.9K, $5.3K

Nick Mullens, QB, San Francisco 49ers

OK, so there's a caveat with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Nick Mullens. There's a chance he won't get the start against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4. He may instead return to being Jimmy Garoppolo's backup.

"When Jimmy's healthy, he'll be playing," head coach Kyle Shanahan said, per Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.

However, Garoppolo didn't practice Thursday, according to The Athletic's Matt Barrows, which suggests there's a good chance Mullens does play again in Week 4. If he does, he could be a fairly strong value play.

While the Philadelphia Eagles rank seventh in pass defense, they've allowed six touchdowns and have no interceptions on the season. Last week against the Eagles, Joe Burrow had 312 passing yards and two touchdowns. Mullens could be in line for similar numbers.

Robby Anderson, WR, Carolina Panthers

While the Arizona Cardinals don't present the most favorable matchup—they rank eighth in pass defense—Carolina Panthers wide receiver Robby Anderson is still a smart value play in Week 4.

While the 27-year-old hasn't quite usurped the No. 1 receiver role from D.J. Moore, he has been the more productive of the two. According to Pro Football Reference, Moore has caught 14 of 26 targets for 239 yards, while Anderson has caught 20 of 23 targets for 278 yards and a touchdown.

The Temple product has been a more reliable target for Teddy Bridgewater and the more consistent playmaker in Joe Brady's offense.

Based on workload alone, Anderson is worth the start, even against a solid Cardinals pass defense. He has had no fewer than five targets in any game this season.

Dalton Schultz, TE, Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz doesn't often get mentioned among the rest of the team's prolific receivers. Dallas ranks No. 1 in passing offense, but wide receivers Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup are usually the ones getting the credit.

However, Schultz has been sneaky good, racking up 147 yards and a touchdown on 15 catches through three games. The 24-year-old has averaged roughly five catches and 50 yards per game, and he could be even more productive against the Cleveland Browns in Week 4.

The Browns rank just 22nd against the pass, and they've struggled against tight ends this season. While Logan Thomas only had four catches and 31 yards in Week 3, Mark Andrews had five catches, 58 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1. C.J. Uzomah and Drew Sample of the Cincinnati Bengals combined for 11 catches and 87 yards in Week 2.

With Cleveland actually fairly stout against the run this season (fifth in yards allowed), the Cowboys may regularly target Schultz to supplement the ground game.
