From the View of a Child...a True Story
I love the Panthers, and I have been critical of the Panthers...this is no secret to anyone who has read my stuff. And I have been pointedly critical of Jake Delhomme, whom I both love and at times dread.
Well, yesterday, my five-year-old son told me he wanted to send a note to Jake. I asked him why and he told me he wanted to tell him to do what he did last week. So off we went to Panthers.com and in their feedback section my son had his mom type the following:
"Jake, If you and the team and our play caller and John Fox, if we play like we played last week, we may beat the Saints. It could lead us to the Super Bowl. It could give us the trophy in the Super Bowl. We could get in water gun fights in the locker room after the game if we win the trophy. We would pour Gatorade or water on Coach John Fox’s head. This is for the team, the coaches of Panthers, and to Jake…no interceptions, no fumbles, we will intercept passes, sack their quarterback and make good tackles.

Thank-you.

PS – Play hard today and the rest of the season. The End"
He said it and she typed it...word for word.
From this I can only be amazed at the enthusiasm of my son. Where adults, most notably I, can get wrapped up in the minutia of the sport, children can keep their eye on the big picture. Play hard and win.
Thanks, son.
Go Panthers.
