Mohamed Salah 'Ready for Everything' as Liverpool Target UCL and PL Titles

Tom SunderlandMar 12, 2019

Mohamed Salah has said he's "ready to fight for everything" in Liverpool's bid to win both the UEFA Champions League and Premier League.

The Reds face Bayern Munich on Wednesday in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash, while they trail Premier League leaders Manchester City by one point with eight matches left. Salah has scored once in his last seven appearances but said he's mentally ready for the run, per Liverpool's official website:

"If we win both that would be great, and this is what we are trying to do.

"The competition is very tough, and we have difficult games left, as do they (City). All you can do is win your games and hopefully they will fail in one so we can win the title.

"My mind is sharp and there is pressure, but I am strong mentally and we just have to keep going. We will see what we can do at the end of the season, but mentally I am ready for everything."

The Egypt international's last strike for the Merseysiders came against Bournemouth on February 9, and he's since failed to score a goal or record an assist in his past four matches.

Despite Salah failing to contribute directly in front of goal during Sunday's 4-2 home win over Burnley, James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo highlighted his impact in other areas:

Jurgen Klopp's men face an uncertain fate at the Allianz Arena after drawing 0-0 in the first leg at Anfield. Liverpool made it to the final of last season's Champions League and finished fourth in the Premier League, but they have a serious chance at a European and domestic double in 2019.

That being said, Salah has placed a special importance on guiding the club to their first English top-flight title in 29 years:

Liverpool entered 2019 with a six-point lead at the Premier League summit, but City—who face Schalke in their Champions League last-16 second leg on Tuesday—have surged back to claim a slim lead.

Pep Guardiola's defending champions now look like favourites to retain the Premier League crown, but ESPN FC pundit Steve Nicol backed the Reds to maintain their challenge:

Salah has scored 20 goals in all competitions this term and almost definitely won't match the career-high tally of 44 he managed last term. However, his goal contribution rate remains one of the best in England this term, per Sky Sports Statto:

Liverpool came up short in their first competitive meeting against Bayern, but an away goal at the Allianz could transform their European prospects, and Salah is braced for an end-of-season battle.
