Price Or Halak? Can We Stop The Controversy?

Jackie MalletNov 1, 2009

Ok people.  Montreal is a city of hockey.  The Canadiens is the only team right now in Quebec.  And until the day the Quebec Nordiques return, the only conversation we have right now is who will be in the nets for the next game.

In all the years I've been watching hockey, I've never heard such a matter consume our discussions about hockey.  For the first time in a long time(yes since Patrick Roy and Brian Hayward) have we had two good goalies.  We are blessed.  Someone in the organization has a good hockey sense.  And his name is Bob Gainey.  Ok maybe he traded Huet too quickly.  Or maybe he put too much pressure on Price when he traded Huet.  Maybe Halak should be number one goalie until Price gets enough experience and confidence.

Too many questions, assumptions, theories.  Pro-Price fans have their say.  Pro-Halak fans have theirs.  But what it all boils down to is that we have two good goalies.  Plus, we can finally dream of having the Stanley Cup parade on Ste-Catherines street once more.

Some say let Halak play. He deserves his place as number one goalie a lot more than Price.  Other say let Price play he's the number one goalie.  I say let's win games so we can go further in the playoffs.

Oh and I forgot to mention that this IS a new season.  We can only compare somewhat to last season when Halak 'saved' the season by winning four games in a row.  Let us not forgot how many games Price won before he was injured.  Let us not forget we no longer have the same team as last year except for a few exceptions.

We should be happy that we now have a better team than last year.  Two good goalies who are getting better with experience(and yes Price is included). And not only one forward who scores but at least 4 or 5 good ones.

Happy hockey season
