Twitter Lists: A Great Way to Find Jets Fans!

Twitter Lists have been slowly rolling out to the masses the last two weeks by Twitter, an  it has been confirmed today that everyone now has the feature.

So what exactly are Twitter Lists?

The idea is to allow people to curate lists of Twitter accounts. For example, you could create a list of the funniest Twitter accounts of all time, athletes, local businesses, friends, or any compilation that makes sense.

Twitter modified their screen and added "Listed" (The number of Lists You Show up in)

This is a great feature to organize the Jets Fans, Players and Beat Writers that you may follow.  What is really cool is that you can follow someone else’s Twitter List.  Most Jets Fans will have a list called “Jets Players” and instead of creating their own and adding each player one by one, you could for example follow my list:  (@e_man/JetsPlayers).

With lists, there appears no limit of how many you can create.  Twitter shows you your lists on the sidebar and when you click on one, you can see the users you have added to that list, and how many people follow your list.

Another feature that appears in your avatar on top is called “Listed”.  This show you how many people have added you to their list.  When I clicked on the 17, it showed me a nice listing of the lists.  What I like about this is you can see how people view you by the labels they apply to your name.

For example, I have shown up in many lists called Jets, Sports, Football.  I have also showed up in Favorites, NEPA (My local area), and Tech.  I guess you better change your ways if you start showing up in lists called spam, Jerks, Spaz, etc.

When I was clicking on my followers and viewing their Jets lists, I noticed that there were a lot of Jets fans I was not following.  I can only imagine that this feature alone is going to make Twitter HUGE!  I’ve had this feature now for a couple of hours and the lists I show up in is growing.  I’ve also noticed my lists are starting to be followed already.

This feature is a great example of taking advantage of the large collection of people’s networks.  Twitter Lists allows you in a very readable and usable way to follow and add Twitter accounts to your followers in a more efficient manner.  I have already noticed my followers have been adding up today.
