Week 8 Starter Help: NFL Fantasy Football | PPR & Standard Leagues

The fantasy football season is heating up as we are now in the middle of the 2009 NFL season. Thank goodness we have only three weeks left for bye weeks as fantasy owners will have all their starters after it's over.

This coming week, however, we still have six teams on bye weeks and fantasy owners will need to rely on their depth and the waiver wire for help.

This week we have our weekly section on wounded warriors, as well as our top rankings for top position players. We have the top 16 ranked QB, TE, K and D/ST ranked. We also have the top 30 RB's and top 35 WR's as well.

Every week we will start off with our wounded warrior's section. These are the key players that are on the injury report that you need to pay attention too before games begin.

Wounded Warriors

Running Backs

Jets-Leon Washington: The Jets will now have to go with rookie running back Shonn Greene as Leon Washington is done for the season. Washington sustained a compound fracture to his fibula and will now be out for the rest of the season.

Pick up Greene as fast as you can.

Colts- Donald Brown vs. 49ers: The Colts' rookie running back Donald Brown injured his shoulder against the Rams. At this time, the injury is not expected to hold Brown out of this week's game but keep an eye on the situation.

If Brown should be limited in practice, Joseph Addai will probably end up receiving a stronger work load.

Eagles- Brian Westbrook vs. Giants: On Monday night football Brian Westbrook suffered a concussion in the first quarter. Westbrook was declared out for the rest of the game just a little while after the injury.

Expect Westbrook to miss next week's game against the Giants. The Eagles top runner will be LeSean McCoy, and he is worth a start.

Wide Receivers

Texans- Andre Johnson @ Bills: The Texans all-world wide receiver Andre Johnson left the game against the 49ers with a chest injury. On Monday, the Texans reviled that Johnson has a lounge contusion and is day to day.

Lions- Calvin Johnson vs. Rams: On Friday's practice star receiver Calvin Johnson was seen limping around on his bad knee. If Johnson cannot practice this week he will probably be out for a week and maybe longer.

Anytime a player has a continued knee problem it is not a good sign and fantasy owners need to be prepared for Johnson being out.

Colts- Reggie Wayne vs 49ers: Reggie Wayne sustained a groin injury against the Rams and had an early exit from the game. Wayne did say after the game that he could have returned but the team didn't need him.

Look for Wayne to play this weekend as he is a warrior and rarely misses time.
