Recently (read: always), weโ€™ve been extremely fascinated with the psyche of the everyday sports fan.ย  What makes a seemingly normal man tick inside the boundaries of a sporting event?ย  These are the questions we are committed to answer.ย  Well, maybe not โ€œanswerโ€.ย  Weโ€™re determined to mock them.ย  Thatโ€™s our promise to you.

One year ago today, we spotted one such oddity on television, in the upper rafters, at Philadelphiaโ€™s Citizens Bank Park โ€“ waiting out a tense World Series game between the Phillies and Rays.

One inning before the picture was snapped, the Phillies were leading the Rays 4-1.ย  When the picture was snapped, the Rays had just erased the deficit to make it a 4-4 ball game.

And thatโ€™s why sports fans are so fascinatingโ€ฆ

Up 4-1, youโ€™re Godโ€™s gift to Section 434.ย  Youโ€™re the crazy man in the chicken suit who canโ€™t distribute enough high fives.

Your team loses the lead, and youโ€™re just a creepy old dude in a $250 animal costume whose taking up too much room in your terrace row. Find some room against the railing, prick.

Such is life in the world of sports fans.ย  And we love every second of it.
