A Look at The Results Of WWE Bragging Rights

The Doctor Chris MuellerOct 26, 2009

Last nights PPV, titled Bragging rights, was supposed to prove brand domination within the WWE.  I'm not sure if they accomplished their goal with that but it did make for a few interesting moments

The first match Saw US Champ Miz face off against former tag team partner and IC champion John Morrison.  I like the feud we are seeing between these two and i hope it goes on for longer.  I think having Miz win was a good choice becasue Morrison is already an accomplished singles wrestler and this gives the Miz opportunity to continue his growth as a singles heel.  I'm wondering if the eventual outcome of this fued will be a title unification match, or at least we might see one of them temporarily hold both belts until they are defeated for one of them.

The match with Raw divas vs Smackdown Divas was no more exciting than any other Divas match I've seen recently.  They are mostly pretty faces with a couple decent wrestlers among them.  I think WWE needs to train their female wrestlers better becasue we have all seen what the knockouts are doing in TNA and its miles ahead of WWE's womens division.

The World Title match saw Batista lose to reigning champion the Undertaker.  The big attraction to this match was the Batista Heel turn that came almost immediately after the match.  He demolished Rey mysterio and I assume that we can expect a feud betwwen the two begin thei friday.  My problem is that while Rey has beaten several big men in the past, I dont see him beating Batista decisively without contraversy.  WWE has done too much to build up Batistas image to have him lose to the second lightest guy on the roster (Hornswoggle being the first).

The Smackdown VS Raw 7 man tag match had a very un-surprising ending.  Big Show turned on Raw and belted Kofi so Jericho could get the win.  I like that Smackdown won because it shows that WWE does recognize the talent on Smackdown as being up there with the guys on Raw, but I dont like how WWE portrayed DX in the Match.  Having them wear their own shirts makes them look stuck up, and lets face it, it probably came from Vince that he didnt want them wearing Raw shirts, not form Shawn and HHH.  Having Kofi give up the jamaican accent was handeled a little starngely by WWE but hopefully we will see him get a push with his new Gimmick of being from West Africa.

John Cena won the WWE title in the 60 minute iron man match with a 6-5 victory.  I was a little surprised by this because Orton just got the title back and then loses it again.  I also thought they would shift Cena to Smackdown to help ratings and shake up the main event feuds a bit, but i guess we havent seen the last of Orton/Cena like they were saying before the PPV.  According to different reports it is said that Vince was unhappy that Cena was busted open so bad and even called in the medics to clean him up during the match.  This just goes to show that the WWE is dedicated to their tvpg image, which just plain sucks in my opinion

Overall i was disapointed that there were only five matches and no ECW title match, but i was happy to see Kofi utilized in the main event, and i was also glad to see batista turn heel, which i have been asking for for about a year now.

I give this ppv a 6/10, what do you think of last nights inaugural bragging rights ppv
