Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Tricks Fans into Thinking He Was Called Up by Blue Jays

Rob GoldbergMay 14, 2018

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will almost certainly make his Toronto Blue Jays debut sometime soon, but it won't be this week despite some trolling from the minor league star.

According to Bill Baer of NBC Sports, the third base prospect re-posted an old photo on Instagram at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York. With the Blue Jays playing the Mets in Queens on Tuesday and Wednesday, this appeared to be a sign he was joining the major league club.

However, the picture was old and has since been deleted, likely angering quite a few fans hoping to see him in The Show.

The 19-year-old son of Vladimir Guerrero is considered the No. 2 prospect in baseball by MLB.com, trailing only Ronald Acuna of the Braves.

Although he is crushing Double-A with a .397 batting average entering Monday, he apparently isn't ready for promotion.

"We feel like there is a good opportunity in the minor leagues for [Guerrero] to become a better more well-rounded player than in the majors leagues," Toronto general manager Ross Atkins said Monday, per Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

In the meantime, it appears he will just enjoy messing with fans.
