Dez Bryant Rumors: Ex-Cowboys WR Won't Sign with Team Until After 2018 NFL Draft
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant will reportedly wait until after this week's 2018 NFL draft to sign with a new team.
On Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported Bryant, who's been a free agent since the Cowboys released him April 13, "isn't expected" to ink a new deal before the draft.
The 29-year-old playmaker told Mike Fisher of 247Sports last week he's searching for the right fit, maybe with one of Dallas' division rivals and not necessarily the best financial offer.
"It won't be about the money," Bryant said. "It won't be about 'market value.' No. No. Not at all."
He added: "I'm kinda hoping it's an NFC East team. If it's somewhere else, that's fine. But I'd like to play the Cowboys twice."
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported after his release that the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers were among the organizations with potential interest.
Bryant's numbers have dropped off in recent seasons. After three straight years of at least 88 catches, 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns from 2012 through 2014, he's failed to post a 1,000-yard campaign over the past three years.
The Oklahoma State alum finished 2017 with a mundane 69 grabs for 838 yards with six scores despite playing in all 16 games.
That production still makes him a solid No. 2 wideout, but teams seeking an upgrade at the position may see whether they can fill the void through the draft before sinking money into Bryant, who's no longer the dominant physical force he was during his prime.
