WWE announced Tuesday that Carmela and Charlotte Flair will battle in a rematch for the SmackDown Women's Championship at Backlash on May 6.
According to WWE.com, Carmella and Charlotte will sign the contract for the match on Tuesday night's edition of SmackDown Live.
Carmella beat Flair for the title when she successfully cashed in her Money in the Bank contract on the April 10 edition of SmackDown Live—two nights after WrestleMania 34.
Carmella made the best of an advantageous situation two weeks ago when she preyed on a vulnerable Charlotte after The Queen was beaten down by Peyton Royce and Billie Kay.
That moment came on the heels of perhaps the biggest win of Charlotte's career, as she handed Asuka her first singles loss in WWE at WrestleMania.
Flair made The Empress of Tomorrow tap out to the Figure Eight in what was one of the most shocking results to ever occur at The Showcase of the Immortals.
The playing field will be more level between Charlotte and Carmella at Backlash, but The Princess of Staten Island will likely have something up her sleeve since she has developed into one of the most dastardly heels in WWE.
Another run-in by The IIconics seems possible due to the fact it is difficult to envision Carmella beating the physically imposing Flair without some help.
If Carmella doesn't have a well-devised plan at her disposal, a short title run may be in her future, and Charlotte could take another step toward becoming the greatest women's wrestler in WWE history.
