2018 NFL Draft Rumors: Josh Rosen 'Most Likely to Slide' Due to Injury Concerns
Among the top quarterbacks in the 2018 NFL draft, UCLA's Josh Rosen is reportedly the most likely candidate to slide in the first round.
According to NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah, personnel executives he has spoken with believe Rosen could potentially fall out of the top 10 due to injury concerns.
Jeremiah also said he has heard three quarterbacks will likely come off the board in the first five picks with USC's Sam Darnold, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield and Wyoming's Josh Allen standing out as the top possibilities.
Jeremiah pointed out that a shoulder injury cost Rosen several games in 2016 and that he suffered two concussions last season.
Even so, Rosen was highly productive in 2017, completing 62.6 percent of his passes for 3,756 yards, 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
The former UCLA standout also has ideal size for the position at 6'4" and 226 pounds.
He is somewhat lacking in terms of mobility, which could make teams with a weak offensive line hesitant to select him considering his injury history.
The Cleveland Browns at No. 1 and No. 4, the New York Giants at No. 2, the New York Jets at No. 3 and the Denver Broncos at No. 5 all have either an immediate or eventual need at quarterback.
If Rosen slides past them, then he could be in play for other quarterback-needy teams such as the Miami Dolphins at No. 11, Buffalo Bills at No. 12 or Arizona Cardinals at No. 15.
Also, NESN's Doug Kyed reported Wednesday that the New England Patriots have interest in Rosen as a potential successor to Tom Brady.
New England has the No. 23 and No. 31 overall picks, meaning it could move up in the first round.
Bleacher Report's Matt Miller ranks Rosen as the No. 7 overall player and No. 3 quarterback in the draft, and he predicted in his latest mock draft that Buffalo will move up from No. 12 to No. 6 in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts to select him.
