Karl Anthony-Towns Gets Away with Apparent Travel After Missed Free Throw
A momentary lapse in judgment may have helped the Minnesota Timberwolves get an easy bucket late in Sunday's 104-101 defeat to the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.
Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns grabbed a rebound off a missed free throw by James Harden and seemed not to realize the ball was live. He appeared to walk toward the official to give the referee the ball.
Nobody whistled Towns for the apparent traveling, and he threw the ball up to Derrick Rose, who found Andrew Wiggins for a two-handed dunk.
Ultimately, the play didn't have any impact on the game. At the time, though, Wiggins' dunk cut the Rockets' lead to five points with 1:26 remaining.
But it may have been a somewhat glaring mistake at a critical moment in a playoff game. Fans can expect the NBA to weigh in when it releases the last two-minute report from Houston's victory.
