Fantasy Baseball Is Over!

Jay BurmeisterOct 23, 2009

At least in a fantasy sense, which is all that matters when you're a Cub fan. We are having our annual payout/drinking bonanza this Sunday and I can't wait 'til next year. Winning is sweet, but losing guys like Jiminez, Carlos Lee, Wainwright, Adrian Gonzalez, Chipper, and Oswalt all but assures me of a less than stellar finish next year. I have been in an NL only 11 team keeper league for about 12 years now, with 3 wins to show for it. It is pretty much the same group of guys I started with, with little attrition. We draft auction style the weekend before the season starts. We have a few meetings throughout the year, and trades, although tough to negotiate at times are possible. I think we have a pretty serious, knowledgeable group which is proven by the fact that any "sleeper" list consists of players that have already been drafted in our league.

Draft day is only 5 months away!

It is never too early to start preparing. I have already looked at my list of players left on my roster and sorted through it, assigning groups such as; keepers, spring training decisions, trade bait, and worthless. I will be following AFL with an interest at seeing some of the youngsters perform. I scour the internet, buy fantasy baseball magazines (usually 5-7 per year), read Sports Weekly, ESPN, Sporting News, and listen to sports radio for information as well. I will try to keep future articles interesting with new and maybe in some cases under the radar information. If you have requests for my opinion or where to find information on certain players, teams, trades, etc. you can reach me at Jay_Burmeister@sbcglobal.net. I will try to answer any questions, but prefer to stick with what I know best, which is NL baseball.

 So long for now,

 Jay Burmeister
