April 10, 2018
Two reporters were involved in an altercation during Friday's game between the Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers, and as a result, one is facing felony charges.
According to FTVLive (h/t Bruce Vielmetti of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel), WITI-TV's A.J. Bayatpour, 32, was arrested on substantial battery charges after allegedly causing "significant injury" to WTMJ-TV reporter Ben Jordan.
The police report stated the confrontation began after Bayatpour criticized his coworker Madeline Anderson. Jordan is said to have stepped in to defend Anderson, his girlfriend, and was then punched after the situation escalated.
Bayatpour has since been released from the Milwaukee County Jail on bail.
Tribune Broadcasting, the parent company for WITI-TV, said in a statement to Vielmetti: "We are aware a WITI employee was involved in an altercation and we are investigating the incident."
