LeBron James Billboard Created by Knicks Fans: 'King of New York? Prove It'
As LeBron James' impending free agency draws nearer, fans around the country are making pitches to try to recruit the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar to their team.
First it was Philadelphia. Then Los Angeles...and Akron. Oh, don't forget about Portland's tongue-in-cheek sign.
Now, New York Knicks fans are getting in on the action:
That, of course, is in reference to a November Instagram post by James in which he declared himself the "[King] of New York":
James' former teammate Dwyane Wade laughed at the notion of him coming to New York, per Ian Begley of ESPN:
New York was a rumored destination spot for James back during his 2010 free agency, when he ultimately signed with the Miami Heat. Knicks fans would gladly welcome the four-time NBA MVP if it means their team would finally snap a five-year playoff drought and, more importantly, help it win its first championship since 1973.
