Braun Strowman and a young fan named Nicholas beat The Bar on Sunday at WrestleMania 34 to become the new Raw tag team champions in New Orleans.

Strowman selected Nicholas out of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome crowd before the match, shocking the WWE Universe.

In what was essentially a handicap match, Strowman and Nicholas won the titles after The Monster Among Men hit a running powerslam on Cesaro:

The title win marks the first of Strowman's WWE career, and he took a unique route to reach that point.

Several weeks ago on Raw, general manager Kurt Angle held a tag team Battle Royal with the stipulation the winners would go on to face Sheamus and Cesaro for the championships at WrestleMania. Strowman crashed the match, and despite not having a partner, he went on to win it all by himself.

Angle agreed to let The Monster Among Men face The Bar on The Grandest Stage of Them All, but he made it clear Strowman needed to find a partner.

Strowman did his best to avoid that in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania, and he even attempted to pass himself off as his own partner by putting on some glasses and calling himself "Brains Strowman."

That didn't fly with Angle, which meant it was still unknown who Strowman's partner would be until just before the match started.

While Strowman has been a dominant force individually, the uncertainty regarding his ability to play well with others created a different dynamic in Sunday's match.

It was enhanced by the fact Sheamus and Cesaro have developed into one of the best, most successful WWE tag teams in recent memory during their time together.

Although The Bar started as two Superstars who were thrown together by former Raw general manager Mick Foley, it eventually grew into a well-oiled machine and has largely dominated the brand's tag team division over the past two years.

Sheamus and Cesaro ran roughshod over the Raw tag team division, but they never encountered a threat as great as Strowman.

It can be argued Sunday's match was a step down for Strowman since he has been hovering around the main event for much of the past year, but his involvement in the Raw tag team scene reinvigorated what was a weak division and created a spectacle at The Showcase of the Immortals.

Now that Strowman and Nicholas are the Raw tag team champions, it does little to answer any questions in the division. At some point, The Monster Among Men will need to select a partner who can help him defend the championships.

Perhaps Monday night's Raw will bring more clarity to the status of the tag belts.
