Saquon Barkley Rumors: Ex-Penn State RB to Visit Giants Ahead of 2018 NFL Draft
Former Penn State running back Saquon Barkley is reportedly scheduled to visit the New York Giants on Sunday, according to ESPN's Dianna Russini.
The Giants, who own the No. 2 overall pick in this month's draft, finished last season with 96.8 rushing yards per game (26th overall). Only two teams had fewer rushing touchdowns than their six last season.
Barkley, widely regarded as one of the most complete prospects in recent memory, could help fix those woes in an instant.
As a junior at Penn State, the 21-year-old totaled 1,903 yards and 21 touchdowns from scrimmage. He also returned two kickoffs for scores. All told, Barkley finished his three-year career in Happy Valley with 3,843 rushing yards, 1,195 receiving yards and 51 touchdowns from scrimmage.
Bleacher Report's Matt Miller has Barkley listed as the No. 1 overall prospect on his big board and has compared him to Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk.
In his latest mock draft, Miller projected Barkley to the Cleveland Browns at No. 4 overall, with the Giants opting for NC State edge-rusher Bradley Chubb.
The Giants are also reportedly doing their due diligence on the draft's top quarterbacks.
According to The MMQB's Albert Breer, the Giants will meet with Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen next week as they eye potential successors for Eli Manning.
