
Ryan Schimpf Traded to Angels; Braves Receive Carlos Perez
The Los Angeles Angels acquired infielder Ryan Schimpf from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for catcher Carols Perez, the team announced Saturday.
Schimpf was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake once the move was made official.
The 29-year-old has two years of MLB experience under his belt. He's slashed .195/.317/.492 with 34 home runs and 76 RBI over 441 at-bats and accounted for 3.1 offensive wins above replacement during that stretch.

However, he was never a serious candidate to crack the Braves' Opening Day roster and was optioned to the minors on March 18.
The story was the same for Perez.
A lifetime .224 hitter with 184 appearances over three seasons under his belt, Perez was designated for assignment shortly before Opening Day after appearing in 11 spot appearances a year ago.
At best, he'll be an emergency option in Atlanta behind Kurt Suzuki and Chris Stewart.
