Rusev Added to US Title Match for Fatal 4-Way at WWE WrestleMania 34

WrestleMania 34 will be Rusev Day after all with The Bulgarian Brute being added to the United States Championship match Tuesday night on SmackDown Live. 

Rusev and Jinder Mahal teamed up to defeat Randy Orton and Bobby Roode, as Rusev pinned The Viper for the victory.

Following the match, Rusev told Mahal he was going to lobby SmackDown Live general manager Daniel Bryan to be added to the Triple Threat bout for the U.S. title on April 8, per WWE's official Twitter account:

Prior to Tuesday, Rusev's role at WrestleMania 34 remained unclear. He had tried to engineer a matchup with a celebrity, to no avail, and it looked like the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale was his most likely landing spot:

Especially on a card as big as WrestleMania, Triple Threat and Fatal 4-Way matches aren't always great showcases for the wrestlers involved. There generally isn't enough time to let everybody in the ring shine.

In that sense, inserting Rusev into what was already an existing feud between Orton, Roode and Mahal seems like the wrong way to handle one of the hottest wrestlers in the company at the moment.

With that said, simply involving Rusev at WrestleMania should be enough to keep his momentum going, regardless of whether he's successful in capturing the U.S. title for a third time.

A loss could make him an even more sympathetic figure in the same way fans got behind Daniel Bryan when he lost World Heavyweight Championship to Sheamus in 18 seconds at WrestleMania XXVIII.

Should The Bulgarian Brute win the United States Championship, Mardi Gras may be the second-biggest holiday in New Orleans behind Rusev Day.
