Sunday's finals will be completely different, as two relatively unknown 20-year-olds will face off for the first time with the women's title on the line before two celebrated veterans do the same in the men's final.

Federer and Del Potro are 36 and 29, respectively, and have already met 24 times. Federer holds a significant 18-6 advantage in those meetings, taking five of their past six contests, all on hard court.

He's unbeaten in 2018 but had to dig deep in his semi-final win over Borna Coric, a three-set affair that saw the Swiss star spend tons more energy than Del Potro. The Argentinian dropped just five total games in his routine win over Milos Raonic.

As the tournament's official Twitter account shared, he too is on an impressive win streak:

Del Potro was masterful in the return game against Raonic, while his serve was also on point. The latter should be beneficial against Federer, especially if his opponent takes a little longer to recover from his semi-final outing.

Age seems to have little effect on Federer, who is playing some of the best tennis of his career in 2018 and has a strong track record at Indian Wells, with five total titles. But Coric gave him all he could handle, and if there's one area where his age may be a factor, it's in his recovery.

He started slowly before picking up the pace against Coric and reserved his best for last, per Ben Rothenberg of the New York Times:

Don't be surprised if a similar scenario unfolds on Sunday―but Del Potro is a more experienced player than Coric with a great serve when he's on his game, and he may just be able to put the match away.

In the other final, Osaka and Kasatkina will meet on the court for the first time. Both scored massive upset wins in the semi-finals, respectively knocking out Simona Halep and Venus Williams, and one of them will land the biggest title of her career on Sunday.

Kasatkina's road to the final has been particularly tough:

The youngster is quickly becoming a favourite of tennis purists for her wide variety of shots and unusual style of play. In an age when power dominates the WTA, Kasatkina does her damage with technique and tactics, unleashing her power more selectively.

Osaka has a more conventional style of play but is no less fun to watch. The Japanese starlet combines awesome power with good accuracy in her groundstrokes, leading to tons of winners.

She's not short on confidence, either, per Christopher Clarey of the New York Times:

It's hard to look past Kasatkina's run of opponents and her show of mental fortitude against Williams―who was just two points from victory at one point―but like Del Potro in the men's final, Osaka should be well-rested after dropping just three games against Halep.

Predictions: Federer loses the first set but rallies for the win. Kasatkina follows his example.
