Fastlane lit a number of fuses that we will see continue to burn on Tuesday's WWE SmackDown.
Royal Rumble winner Asuka invaded the blue brand on Sunday's pay-per-view to make it clear she wants a shot at Charlotte Flair and the SmackDown Women's Championship. AJ Styles survived a Six-Pack Challenge to remain WWE champion and set up a match with Shinsuke Nakamura.
The hype for those bouts and WrestleMania 34 in general can now begin in earnest.
Indianapolis will host as SmackDown continues its path to WWE's biggest show of the year. The commissioner has something important to say regarding the marquee event. A pair of monsters have forced their way into the SmackDown Tag Team Championship scene. And two rivals want to strip Randy Orton's newly won gold from him.
It all goes down in the Fastlane-fallout edition of SmackDown inside Bankers Life Fieldhouse. News updates, the SmackDown preview on WWE.com and storyline projections help provide an early look at the latest episode before it airs on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on USA Network.
Chris Jericho is potentially headed back to WWE, but it may not be until the company's big Battle Royal at the April 27 house show in Saudi Arabia.
PWInsider's Mike Johnson reported: "The company has reached out to former undisputed WWE champion Chris Jericho about returning to appear that event and all signs are Jericho will be making that date. Whether this is a sign of a greater return for Jericho or just a one night return remains to be seen."
Jericho is currently on tour with his band Fozzy and doesn't appear to be in the mix for WrestleMania.
John Cena, on the other hand, looks to be on the verge of facing Undertaker at The Show of Shows. He called out The Deadman on Monday's Raw.
Fans may have to wait until next Monday for Undertaker's response. Dave Meltzer noted on Figure Four Online: "Cena is working the PPV in Columbus and Raw on Monday. He is not advertised for SmackDown on Tuesday."
After The Bludgeon Brothers walloped him at Fastlane, Xavier Woods may not show up to the blue brand either.
WWE.com reported: "Woods has suffered an injury to his thoracic spine." The report also stated that medical staff is evaluating him for further damage. This is in all probability all storyline, but it may mean Woods is written off TV for a stretch.
Becky Lynch's overall record has been all over the place, but it when it comes down to woman against woman, she has come out on top more often than not. In one-on-one contests, Lynch has a four-match winning streak, per CageMatch.net.
That includes last Tuesday's victory over Carmella.
Even so, Lynch looks destined to enter the Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal. The top women's matches are filling up fast sans The Irish Lass Kicker.
After a time as the top contenders for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable have begun to slide down the ladder.
The duo has now lost three matches in a row, per CageMatch.net. Benjamin and Gable are 2-5 in their last seven bouts. The Bludgeon Brothers and The New Day are more likely to be in the title mix come WrestleMania. Benjamin and Gable will have to settle for something lower on the card.
The Bludgeon Brothers made sure to put their imprint on the tag team division at Fastlane. Harper and Rowan ambushed The Usos and The New Day during the tag title match at the PPV until the champions and challenger all lay unmoving on the floor.
A hunt for revenge is sure to follow. Both The Usos and The New Day will be looking for their pound of flesh from the big bruisers.
Orton will have a target on his back of his own.
The Viper claimed the United States Championship on Sunday with a win over Bobby Roode. Jinder Mahal got involved after the bell, attacking both men. A three-way feud for the U.S. title is now sure to continue.
Tuesday's SmackDown promises to also focus on the upcoming Flair vs. Asuka showdown.
Asuka stared down The Queen on Sunday and pointed at the WrestleMania sign, and with that, the women's Royal Rumble match winner had made her choice of championship match clear. So now, despite her being a member of Raw, Asuka is bound to show up on many a Tuesday ahead of WrestleMania.
Commissioner Shane McMahon seems to have another match in mind for The Showcase of the Immortals.
The WWE.com SmackDown preview noted that he's set to make a major announcement regarding the show. Logic dictates that it will involve Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. McMahon twice interrupted Sunday's WWE title match to make sure those men didn't win.
The heels are sure to be furious with him, and we will soon find out what all this long buildup is leading to.
As for Styles, he chose the concise route when speaking about his WrestleMania opponent. In a backstage interview at Fastlane, he said he would kick Nakamura's ass:
We're sure to get The King of Strong Style's retort in Indy. Whether it will be a verbal or physical one remains to be seen.
But after weeks of being stuck in second gear, SmackDown is set to pick up the pace as the brand is now is fully in the midst of WrestleMania season.
